Who is Stephen Mollah? The Man Who Claims to Be Real Satoshi Nakamoto

Who is Stephen Mollah? The Man Who Claims to Be Real Satoshi Nakamoto

Bitcoin (BTC) is the base of the crypto industry, as it is the first crypto token. It has a 60.1% dominance over the market with $1.3 trillion in market capitalization. All this has happened just because of Satoshi Nakamoto, an anonymous personality, who introduced this digital asset in 2009 before disappearing in thin air. His anonymity alone has created a certain hype around Bitcoin. However, many people have claimed to be him, including Stephen Mollah, becoming the newest claimer for this title.

The battle over this title has been going on for sixteen years now, as people want to know the person behind this technology. More importantly, they want to know the Bitcoin creator, as he is the 20th richest man in the world. Satoshi has 600,000 BTC to 1.1 million BTC, worth billions per current BTC price of $69.5K.

Who is Stephen Mollah? Is He The Real Satoshi Nakamoto?

Just recently, the HBO Documentary claimed that Peter Todd is the real Satoshi Nakamoto. However, it was disappointing for the crypto community, as it lacked many crucial proofs. Regardless, this is not the only case, as before this, Craig Wright got into legal trouble after arguing that he was Satoshi. However, no one was prepared for Stephen Mollah, as he appeared out of nowhere and regarded himself as the Bitcoin creator.

Stephen Mollah, a self-claimed businessman and British-Asian macroeconomist, has taken the crypto industry by storm with his claims. This 58-year-old man from Pimlico has begun regarding himself as a Bitcoin creator with 165,000 BTC in Singapore. He and his partner, Charles Anderson, a 67-year-old from New Malden, have been accused of fraud between November 2022 and October 2023, with their next trial on November 3, 2025. However, just yesterday, they hosted a conference to reveal Satoshi Nakamoto.

Mr Mollah is explaining his background and says he is an economic and monetary scientist. He says he previously tried to out himself as Satoshi in 2016 but ‘someone stopped him’ then again by speaking to the BBC’s @ruskin147 who interviewed him but didn’t publish a story.

Through a PR London Live, Stephen announced an official event, inviting crypto investors, industry experts, and media to witness this biggest revelation in the crypto industry. More importantly, Mollah’s LinkedIn profile says he is an executive director at Coinbase and has claimed that the Bitcoin whitepaper belongs to him, but the organization has not commented on this situation.

The conference already took place on October 31, 2024, and the claimers not only faced technical issues but left the attendees left the event early with disappointment. As a result,  Joe Tidy, a BBC News reporter, and many others have called him fake.

What Went Wrong?

Ever since the event announcement, people have doubted Stephen Mollah’s claims. He and his organizer charged a heavy entree fee of $543, but the quality of the event was disappointing for the attendees. Both Stephen and Charles Anderson were completely busy flaunting their achievements. The event’s first few minutes itself was awkward for many, as Anderson claimed that he had developed a car energy recovery technology. More importantly, he stated that he is the creator of the popular Television show Britain’s Got Talent.

Mollah also followed Charles and mentioned many of his own achievements other than being Satoshi. He claimed that he was the creator of the popular AI bot ChatGPT, Eurobond, and even the Twitter logo. However, that was nothing compared to random screenshots as proof to convince the attendees that he is the Satoshi Nakamoto.

‘Satoshi’ and his organiser cannot get their laptop working so are doing the event offline for now.

Within minutes of the events, people began to leave after seeing random and spineless proofs. Joe even asked the so-called Satoshi, Stephen Mollah, to move BTC from the Genesis block to prove his authenticity. In response, he argued that ‘Genesis block Bitcoin cannot be moved as simply as you think,’ and promised to do that in the upcoming few months. This was disappointing, as people have come looking for some conclusion, especially with the Bitcoin whitepaper day celebration.

Mr Mollah is showing a series of easy to fake screenshots. I asked if he will move some of the Genesis bitcoins to finally prove he is Satoshi. He said he will in the next few months. I have left the conference.

With this, the businessman has urged people to stop searching for Satoshi anymore, as he has officially revealed his identity. More importantly, he informed everyone that he has to do it due to increasing regulatory issues and will share more documentation in the future. However, it is already clear that Stephen Mollah is not the Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. So, the question is who will claim the same thing next?
