Rick Neuheisel emotional for son, Jerry Neuheisel, in UCLA upset

Jerry Neuheisel game-planned the success of quarterback Nico Iamaleava and the Bruins’ offense in their 42-37 win over the Nittany Lions. Neuheisel was named the interim offensive play-caller following UCLA’s parting of ways with offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri.

UCLA’s performance under Neuheisel made CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel a very proud father on Saturday.

‘Don’t make me cry, don’t do that,’ Rick Neuheisel said, while holding back tears.

‘To Penn State fans, I apologize, my dad goggles were on big time today,’ Rick Neuheisel continued. ‘But all of us parents understand that. It doesn’t matter if it’s football, they’re singing in the choir, whatever have you. We’re so proud of our kids.

‘When they get a chance to do what they want to do, and they get a stage and you get to watch them have that kind of success, it makes it all worth it. My wife is at the game; she flew in there this morning. Sue, I hope you’re having fun.’

The Bruins racked up 435 yards of offense in the win, building up a 27-7 halftime lead and forcing the Nittany Lions to play come-from-behind all game. Particularly, Neuheisel unlocked Iamaleava, who finished with 166 passing yards, 128 rushing yards and five total touchdowns.
